#9: Arturo Gatti
Gatti was pure heart personified. He lacked the size and defense of other stars but made up for it with insane courage and pain tolerance. He absorbed vicious punishment and kept coming, fighting with reckless abandon and refusing to break. Every Gatti fight was a war, driven by raw toughness.

In 2002, Gatti faced Micky Ward in their first of three epic battles. Battered and bleeding, Gatti kept standing through savage exchanges, especially the brutal ninth round. Though he lost a close decision, that war immortalized Gatti as one of boxing’s toughest warriors — a man who simply would not quit.
