#20: Tony Zale
Zale, nicknamed “The Man of Steel,” embodied toughness. A hard-hitting, relentless brawler, he walked through punishment unfazed and dished out even more. He thrived in punishing toe-to-toe wars, relying on sheer grit to outlast opponents. Zale’s ability to endure pain and push forward made him a symbol of pure toughness.

In 1946, Zale fought Rocky Graziano in a savage brawl. After absorbing furious punishment early, Zale came roaring back, dropping Graziano with a brutal body shot for a sixth-round knockout. That comeback in the face of near defeat immortalized Zale’s toughness in one of boxing’s most brutal wars.
