Walker, “The Toy Bulldog,” was undersized but unbelievably tough. He regularly fought men far bigger than himself, charging through their punches without fear. He loved trench warfare, absorbing shots and coming back harder. Walker’s refusal to be intimidated by size or power made him one of boxing’s grittiest warriors.

In 1931, Walker fought heavyweight Jack Sharkey while weighing nearly 30 pounds less. He absorbed Sharkey’s heavy punches and fought him to a grueling draw over 15 rounds. That performance proved Walker’s toughness — standing toe-to-toe with a heavyweight contender despite the size disadvantage and never backing off.
