#12: 9/11 Visual Foreshadowing – “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson” – Season 9, Episode 1 (1997)
Four years before the tragedy of 9/11, The Simpsons aired an episode that unintentionally sparked one of the show’s most debated coincidences. In it, Lisa holds up a brochure advertising a bus trip to New York for $9, with the Twin Towers looming just behind the number.

Together, they eerily resemble “9/11.” While the intent was purely visual shorthand for New York tourism, post-2001 viewers couldn’t help but see it differently. The episode, which centers on Homer retrieving his car from beneath the World Trade Center, was briefly pulled from syndication.
